Each chain is thoroughly cleaned, prepared and professionally waxed before dispatch, arriving ready to install and ride.

A clean, properly waxed drivetrain can deliver measurable performance benefits. Compared to a conventionally lubricated chain, a WattShop Waxed Chain can save approximately 1-1.5% of total rider power output, typically equating to 3-5 watts for many cyclists. These efficiency gains are achieved by reducing drivetrain friction whilst preventing the build-up of dirt and contamination commonly associated with wet lubricants.

Each chain undergoes a three-stage ultrasonic cleaning process before being ultrasonically bathed in paraffin wax and a unique performance blend. The chain is then dusted with PTFE powder to further reduce drivetrain friction. The result is an ultra-efficient, clean-running drivetrain capable of delivering peak performance for approximately 300-400km before rewaxing is recommended.

Unlike traditional oils, wax creates a dry lubricating layer that attracts significantly less debris. This helps keep the drivetrain cleaner, reduces wear on chains, cassettes and chainrings, and simplifies ongoing maintenance.
