With the introduction of the Anemoi Mk2 Extension System came the ideal opportunity to enhance our Anemoi Handgrip collection, originally utilised by our Mk1 Extension System. Leveraging years of development and feedback from previous iterations, we reimagined functionality and comfort to consolidate our designs into three new options: Standard Pole, Standard Pole Long, and Ergo.
Leading the way with Interchangeable Handgrips
For years, handgrip design was limited to traditional round poles, with shifters designed accordingly. The Anemoi Mk1 introduced the industry’s first interchangeable handgrip, offering key advantages: optimised grip shape, angle, lateral position, toe alignment, improved cable routing, and seamless integration with modern shifter technology. Today, most extensions incorporate some form of interchangeable handgrip—whether attachable or fixed—underscoring the enduring impact of this innovative design in a rapidly evolving industry.
The Standard Pole Collection
With the Anemoi Mk2 Extension System, this features endures with our Standard Pole and Standard Pole Long handgrip offerings. These options, ideal for a range of riders including triathletes, are compatible with the following popular shifting systems:
- Shimano R9160
- Shimano SW671
- SRAM Clics
- SRAM Wireless Blips (3rd party adapter required)
Whether you’re a triathlete chasing marginal gains or a cyclist optimising their setup for all-out performance, these options are tailored to meet your needs.
The Ergo Handgrip: Precision meets functionality
Combining the interchangeable feature with design functionality and rider experience in mind, the Ergo handgrip is a step forward in handgrip design. Its innovative two-piece construction, featuring inner and outer components, maximises shifter contact area, enhancing functionality and improving rider experience. The Ergo handgrip is compatible with a wide range of shifting systems:
- Shimano R9150
- SRAM Wireless Blips
- SRAM Wired Blips
- Also suitable for Track cyclists
Whether tackling the velodrome or the open road, the Ergo handgrip delivers an ergonomic edge, empowering riders to optimise performance without compromise.
UCI compliance
Cyclists competing under UCI regulations must ensure their setup meets extension tip height compliance requirements. Depending on your UCI height category, the allowable mid-point armrest-to-extension-tip measurement varies:
- Category 1: up to 100mm
- Category 2: up to 120mm
- Category 3: up to 140mm
- Non-Category: up to 100mm
These measurements, taken vertically, are essential for UCI compliance. Our handgrips are designed with these rules in mind, ensuring an optimised set up without risk of rule violations. It is worth noting here that utilising the Anemoi adjustable angled riser allows riders to fully maximise their legal adjustment window.
The following table provides detailed UCI compliance information based on riser angle and handgrip type:
Handgrip Design Breakdown
To help you choose the perfect handgrip, here’s an overview of the designs:
Standard Pole – designed for UCI compliance when using traditional pole end style shifters. The length may need to be trimmed to ensure hand height compliance.
Standard Pole (long) – to meet the needs of triathletes or athletes free from UCI regulations, who desire increased handgrip contact.
Ergo – for modern day satellite shifters and to comply with UCI regulations, ergonomic with a hidden shifter button to offer increased shifter contact area.
The Anemoi Mk2 Handgrip Collection combines innovation, versatility, and attention to detail, offering a superior cycling experience. Whether you’re refining your UCI-compliant setup or maximizing performance in non-category competitions, our range ensures compatibility, comfort, and performance at the highest level.
